It’s no wonder that he is cited as an inspiration by the likes of George Daniels and F.P. Journe. During the 18th and 19th centuries, Breguet manufactured not just watches but also marine chronometers for the French Navy, which were among the most accurate timekeeping devices in production. It is from this heritage that the Marine collection takes its name. The Reference 3460 is a more sporting take on a Breguet watch. While it features a screw-down crown for protection against the elements, it retains all the hallmarks we have come to expect from a Breguet watch: a coin-edge case, officer-style lugs, and a perfectly made Swiss guilloché dial with Breguet hands. The movement is the Calibre 576, an automatic column-wheel chronograph based on an ébauche from the legendary Frédéric Piguet 1185. Complete with its period box, this is a beautiful watch from one of the most important brands in watchmaking and a seldom-seen example of a dress chronograph suitable for everyday wear.
