The watch is always had a good battery in it and a new one was placed in about two weeks ago. It is a certified quartz choreograph which easily meets the 10 seconds per year require requirement for certification. This is kind of an analog/digital marriage (or Frankenstein). Overall, the concept works and has a functional chronograph, day date second, timing countdown, timer alarm clock, and it will give you the current time in audio beeps. If you are in the dark, with zero visibility. If it is just dark, the numbers and hash marks are nicely luminescent, and the watch is also backlit. This has been one of my favorites, and I have worn it for many years. The only work I had done on it was buff the screws around the bezel that had sharp edges, so they would not snag my cuffs. I am an active scuba diving diver, but I don’t believe I’ve ever taken this watch diving. But one of the selling points to me, was the fact that if I did find myself deeply underwater trapped in a zero visibility cave, I could at least get audio signal of my time, so I would know exactly how long I had make my escape. I do enjoy night diving, and reck diving but I carry two good underwater flashlights in addition to my camera strobes/floods and I haven’t yet have found myself trapped in a zero visibility cave
