I am offering for sale a fantastic Breitling Navitimer Montbrillant Datora C.O.S.C. certified chronometer in very good condition. This superb automatic watch has the reference A21330 featuring a 43mm case (excluding crown), a white baton dial housing a red pointer date hand as well as both day and month windows at 12 o'clock. This triple calendar dress watch comes on a stainless steel Breitling Navitimer bracelet and is complete with its Breitling box (inner leather case and outer card box). This Datora is in beautiful condition overall with just normal expected clasp wear -it is a used timepiece after all. The dial design comprises a central hour and minute hand, a date pointer beautifully tipped with a red crescent and a chronograph seconds hand. The sub-dials show a seconds and 24 hour display at 9 o'clock position. The chronograph 30 minute counter is found at 12 o'clock with the 12 hour counter at the 6 o'clock position. A rotating slide rule is accessed by turning the bidirectional bezel for mathematical calculations.
Inside, the watch is powered by the famous Breitling 21 caliber movement which is based on the ETA/Valjoux 7751. The movement utilises 25 jewels and has a beat rate of a splendid 28800 v.p.h. When new, it boasts a power reserve of 42 hours and a 30 metres water resistance.
The Montbrillant Datora A21330 provides the opportunity of experiencing vintage Navitimer styling while gaining a watch fully equipped with modern mechanical complications. Launched in 2002 for a notable 11 year run, the 43mm stainless steel wearer is as mentioned, fully equipped from the outside in with a slide-rule scale connected to a traditional Breitling outer rotating bezel on its case, and a dial showcasing a chronograph, annual calendar, and remarkable historically inspired detailing.
To summarise, the vintage-style dial packs incredible timekeeping functionality without feeling overbearing. Inside, the Breitling caliber 21 powers the watch and ensures ease of use, with the automatic movement itself based upon the ever-reliable ETA 7751. The Montbrillant name itself has been used numerous times over the years with the most established being its connection with the Navitimer. Inspired by the 1940s and ‘50s aviation boom, Montbrillant variations of the Navitimer typically have a design that leans more heavily into the heritage pilots chronographs with smaller case widths often with a diameter of 38 mm.
This superior example is of course a member of the larger variety coming in at 43 mm. It also exhibits a lug to lug measurement of 51 mm, a lug width of 22 mm and a bracelet length of 18 cm (excluding the watch). The bracelet is possibly full sized -it is certainly far too large at its present setting for a 7 inch wrist (shown in photo). Links can of course be removed -they are attached with screws. There is also some adjustment possible at the clasp with 4 micro-adjustment holes present. Thickness-wise, the watch comes in at a respectable 14.1 mm, remarkable really, given the complications on offer.
The watch comes with its original boxes, leather Breitling document wallet, a C.O.S.C. certificate (although not stamped with any watch details) and a Breitling Chronometer tag. A user’s guide is also provided (as a print out). This can also be downloaded free of charge -message me for the source.
