Annie Oakley "Little Sure Shot" Buffalo Bill Wild West Elgin National Watch Co. Open Face Pocket Watch. An open face watch manufactured by Elgin National Watch Co., size 18s, Model 5 movement, serial number 3669514, features a gilt finish. Movement set inside an American Watch Case Co. coin silver case stamped to inside cover "Pat 1888 / A.W.C. Co Coin 81685". Engraved on back of watch case "Buffalo Bill's Wild West Presented to Annie Oakley "Little Sure Shot" September 1, 1889". Annie Oakley (Phoebe Ann Mosey) (1860-1926) was an American sharpshooter who starred in Buffalo Bill's Wild West. She joined Buffalo Bill in 1885, performing in Europe before royalty and other heads of state. In 1889, after a two year absence, Oakley returned to the Buffalo Bill show in time for the Paris Exposition. After a three year European tour, she was cemented as America's first female star. In Europe, she performed for Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom, King Umberto I of Italy, President Marie François Sadi Carnot of France and other crowned heads of state. Approx.
