A yellow gold pair cased repoussé quarter repeating verge watch with pulse piece circa 1745 no 1735 diameter 53 mm , • gilt brass full plate verge movement signed Jos. Martineau Sen, London, 1735 , pierced and engraved balance cock, three-arm balance, fusee and chain, repeating on a bell, signed and numbered dust cap • gilt champlevé dial, Roman numerals, Arabic outer, arcaded minute track, diamonds between the hours • pierced and engraved inner case with maker's mark SG (Stephen Goujon) , numbered behind the pendant • fine repoussé outer case depicting Alexander the Great cutting the Gordian knot, signed by Burges , the sides with scrolling pierced and engraved vignettes, pulse piece at 7 o'clock
