This new stainless steel Daytona replaced the previous ref. 116520, which had enjoyed a long and successful run. Both models feature Rolex's proprietary in-house chronograph movement. However, the ref. 116500LN broke new ground as the first stainless steel Daytona to be fitted with a Cerachrom bezel. The high-tech ceramic bezel material is virtually scratchproof, offering improved durability and a sleek finish. For the ref. 116500LN, Rolex offered dial options in either black or white to suit different tastes. But in either colorway, the model embodied a perfect blend of sporty and elegant aesthetics. Upon its debut, retailers were inundated with buyer interests and waitlists rapidly amassed.
