Sinn makes watches that are totally unique and unmistakable, and the German Bauhaus design language can be seen in everything the brand makes. This Sinn 144 is but another fantastic example of their approach. This timepiece is a limited edition of only 600 individually numbered pieces, and draws its design inspiration from the original 144 watch released 60 years ago, but executed with thoroughly modern materials. The stainless-steel case has been bead-blasted and hardened using Sinn’s TEGIMENT technology. The case is then coated with Sinn’s high-quality black hard coating to give the watch extra resilience and a super stealth minimalist look. The inner bezel track features a combined tachymetre/pulsometer scale (you generally only get one or the other) that gives the watch a very unique design touch and added utility. The watch features truly innovative technology that we had honestly never seen before on any other watch – a dehumidifying system. No matter water how “water resistant” a watch is and no matter how well you dry out the inside of a watch case, there still exists an atmosphere inside of a watch (you could get around this by casing your watch up in outer space). What this means in practical terms is that even the most serious of diver’s watches are prone to fogging when there is a rapid change between the outer and inner temperature of a watch. The dehumidifying system eliminates this problem via a one-way valve on the side of the case at 8 o’clock. The valve also changes colours, ranging drop a light to dark blue, in order to tell you the moisture levels inside the case. The watch is powered by the Concepto calibre C99001 with day/date display, running small seconds and chronograph functions. This particular watch has also had its day calendar disk changed from German to English at the time of sale. The original German language day disk is included with the set.
