The watch is a most striking and beautiful timepiece with a steel back and gold plated or gold capped bezel and case. It is hard to imagine that the watch is nearing 60 years of age! There is no rubbing or peeling of the gold plating reflecting the quality employed by Rolex/Tudor in the manufacture process in the 1960's. I would even go so far to suggest that it is probably “gold capped” rather than plated -better still! (Capping is suggested due to the quality of course but also due to the fact that the underside of the watch, including beneath the lugs are golden. Plated examples have stainless steel exposed here). The case measures 34 mm (excluding the golden Rolex crown) but it does wear larger. This manual watch winds well and is currently ticking away strongly and keeping good time. The hands adjust as they should. the original gold dial is in reasonably good order as is the watch glass. The dial does exhibit some of what I would describe as very small “pimples” on its surface. The pimples have not caused any damage to the dial and are not particularly visible unless you look close and even then they are not really an issue. In my opinion they do not detract from the overall appearance of the watch at all and they certainly have never been a concern to me. Look closely at the photographs –I’m sure you will agree! The watch is powered by a reliable Tudor Cal 2403 manual wind movement (modified ETA 2390) with 21 jewels and a beat rate of 18000 v.p.h. and on inspection, it really looks in pristine condition! The watch comes on a new brown "lizard grain" strap with a golden signed Tudor buckle, both of which compliment the watch nicely. The watch comes housed in a new red storage box. Its serial number, located between the lugs below the 6 o’clock position is 707380. From published serial number tables it is possible to date the watch -manufactured 1969. As an added advantage, the watch has just been returned to me after a health check by my watchmaker, including oiling and gasket replacement. A truly beautiful and classy vintage Tudor/Rolex rarer and more collectable by some than the ubiquitous automatics –all ready to go! FREE SHIPPING AND INSURANCE WORLDWIDE!
