UNIVERSAL GENEVA. - Lot 128

UNIVERSAL GENEVA. Polerouter. Circa 1960. Steel and gilt metal wristwatch. Round case, screw-down back, signed. Black dial, signed. Automatic movement with stopper, cal. UG138SS, signed. Diameter 35.5 mm. Provenance: Collection of an enthusiast. The Polerouter holds a special place in the history of modern watchmaking as it was the first watch designed by Gerald Genta. Created in 1954 for the pilots of Scandinavian Airlines Systems, this model is equipped with a bumper movement, arguably the best available at the time. CONDITION REPORT (given for information purposes only): Movement operational at the time of writing the catalog. Some signs of use and scratches. Well-preserved dial, beautiful patina. Case with signs of wear: reference and serial number illegible (wear). Watchmaker's markings visible on the case back. Revision recommended. Please note that all watches are sold as is. No warranty on operation. Watches have been opened to identify the type and quality of the movement, including water-resistant watches, so the buyer is advised to consult a watchmaker to review the watch's water resistance.
